Here & There

A quick sketch from a patio full of interesting plants. These caught my eye. A little strange but I liked them.

Plein air was in Grabill recently. It feels kind of empty because I didn’t put all the cars in.

Lakeside Park, looking down on the pools of water. My but it was a very hot day. We didn’t stay very long.

Gotta cool off...k

Out and Around

It was a hot day and I was hungry. Why not grab lunch, find a good parking spot and enjoy the view. I had also just viewed a video on measuring within sketches and was anxious to give it a try. You see the front doors are divided into thirds. That has always been a problem for me to get any kind of accuracy. However, if you look close only 2 doors look like a square. Add a half and you have three equal doors. Not sure if that makes sense but to me it was revelation.

We have a small plein air group that meets once a week during the nice weather. Todays meet-up was at a little restaurant/antique shop called “Pickles Cafe”. I found a nice cool spot in the shade and enjoyed sketching the building.

Hubby and I have a favorite restaurant in Auburn called the “Steakhouse”. As we were inside, this couple sat out on the patio. I could resist a quick sketch.

Guess that will do for now... k

This & That...

This is my interesting work space. It appears rather cluttered but but I find it very comfortable.
I was playing with a lense that fits over my iPhone and rather liked the effect it had.

I was sitting outside the downtown library just off the patio. It needs some people so later I will add a couple sitting at one of the tables.

Also at the library...

Enjoying the warmer weather

Not doing any oil painting these days but I enjoy a bit of sketching.

We pulled into a back area downtown and that red truck caught my eye.

Found ourselves at Johnny Appleseed Park. Lots of campers enjoying the area.

Still working on my measurements and proportions.
This building front looked like a good piece to practice on.

                      Thanks for dropping by.      K.

More Sketches / Nicer Weather

Once in a while I like to play around with a water soluble ink pen.
This was just a little country scene.

The tulips are finally out...

More tulips at the park.

After watching an instructive video on measuring proportions, I had to try it out.
Not as easy as it looks. Practice, practice.

Bye for now...  k

Looking back

I found a few sketches in one of my drawing books that were interesting...
I usually have two or three going at the same time depending on what medium or location I might be at.

I did this one at a music/art retreat over in Detroit in March.

Here I was just playing around.
I used some ink that was not waterproof and it decided to run into the color.

Have a great day. K

Winter... brrrr

We finally got all that snow we were waiting for. With it came some pretty fridgid temperatures.

Hubby loves his snow blower.

I did this little sketch while we were waiting for our lunch. It was date time at The Oyster Bar.
One of our favorite places whether it be summer or winter. Clam chouder and fish tacos got the nod today.

Stay warm... k

Flowers

We have a group of artists that get together once a week to work on our art and just encourage one another. It doesn’t matter what medium we choose to work in, we really enjoy each other’s company.

This particular day I chose to play around with some watercolor flowers.
They are small and ideas for greeting cards if I want.

Cold and snowy here in Indiana. I’m looking forward to spring as always. 😏

What’s New?

Guess it has been a while. Probably call it a slump or slacking off or other things taking first place. Not sure which.

I’ve been working on some family genealogy, calligraphy and of course the holidays were approaching. End of excuses!

I stared this piece sometime before Christmas. It’s a 10 x 20. I love boats and the water.

However, I wound up in the hospital for Christmas with some chest pains. Got myself a stent for Christmas. Recovery has been good and I found time to finish this piece.

Still playing around with the fun lettering and am trying to get back into the habit of sketching. I really miss my pencil time on the paper with a splash of watercolor.

                 Later... k
