Maine

Chapter 1

I've been gone for a couple of weeks on a painting trip to Maine.  A friend and I decided to drive out to Maine and attend a "Painting Retreat". What a great time we had - new friends, interesting, beautiful, fun, exciting, tiring, good food, crazy and surprising.

Most of all I'll be sharing some of the pictures I took and telling of the places we went and things we saw and did.  Unfortunately I didn't do much painting because I was busy exploring and taking pictures. I hated to spend lots of time painting when there was so much beauty all around to be preserved in pixels.  I am hoping they will be great to paint from this winter when the snow is a few feet deep.

The first thing I like to do when I get to Camden is stop at Scottie's and have a lobster roll.
Yep.... this is the place. I have a brother who lives in Camden and he pointed this place out to me a few years ago when I visited.

Yum....I really like lobster!  Just stick some in a hot dog bun and I'm a happy camper.

Next is to visit the harbor. Lots of different kinds of boats from the smallest to rather large yachts. It's very touristy and rich.    This is a view from Mt Battie in the Camden Hills State Park. It overlooks the harbor and the city.

A quick peek at Rockport

and Rockland

and the Breakwater at Rockland.... it's 7/8 of a mile out to the lighthouse. I'm passing today.

Then it's off to our hostess's home in Bucksport which is at the north end of Penobscot Bay.

Bye for now
but I'll be back.
